Information for Businesses Interested in Participating

How does my company become a participant?
Any business interested in participating may apply to the Department of Labor and Regulation (DLR) through this application. Before jobs are eligible for this program, they must be available to South Dakota citizens for at least 30 days through a posting with DLR job services. If the position is not filled in those 30 days, the position will be forwarded to Manpower, Inc. and your business will work directly with Manpower to define your search criteria, interview, and hire an employee. What types of jobs are eligible?
South Dakota will target its efforts on high-need, high-impact industries. South Dakota labor and economic development data show that these industries include manufacturing, engineering, financial services, and information technology.

What are the costs?
The State of South Dakota will have the direct contract with Manpower, Inc. The cost for this relocation program will be $3,000 per placement for employees with a base salary under $40,000 annually and $5,100 per placement for employees with a base salary of $40,000 to $80,000 annually.

The State proposes to pay for half of the cost per placement. Therefore, the cost to business will be $1,500 per placement for employees with a base salary under $40,000 annually and $2,600 per placement for employees with a base salary of $40,000 to $80,000 annually.

The only cost on South Dakota businesses will be incurred once the position is filled. If a candidate leaves the position within the first 90 days, Manpower, Inc. will work with your company to identify a replacement candidate at no additional cost.
