GOED Kicks Off 2014 Training Opportunities
Friday, April 11, 2014
The GOED successfully kicked off its first training session on March 11th when it hosted the GOED Overview for New Economic Practitioners.
Approximately 22 practitioners gathered in Pierre to learn more about the resources available to economic developers. Topics included business development resources, data resources, current campaigns, cooperative opportunities, as well as an overview of the structure of the state office.
"I'm pleased that our first session was so well-received," said GOED Commissioner Pat Costello. "Having the opportunity to reach out to and touch base with our local developers is beneficial to all parties."
The session was one of four - the remaining sessions will be held in Pierre in June 10, September 9 and December 9, and are open to not only new economic developers, but also veteran developers, board members, and other interested individuals.
The GOED will also be offering training on its Request for Information (RFI) process in Pierre on April 10 and Rapid City on April 25 and in Watertown on June 11.
"The RFI Training is a great session for local economic development offices that wish to work with the state on joint information requests," said Costello. "Staying up to date on our procedures and requirements really helps the process go smoothly when we are under the gun to provide information to a prospect."
To RSVP for one of the RFI Training sessions, please contact your local planning district representative. For a full list of economic development training opportunities, visit www.sdreadytopartner.com/training.
