Aberdeen director honored for helping businesses
Friday, May 22, 2015
Kelly Weaver has been honored as the SCORE Champion of the Year in South Dakota for helping small businesses.
Weaver is the regional director of the South Dakota Small Business Development Center (supported by GROW South Dakota) in Aberdeen. SCORE used to stand for the Service Corps of Retired Executives. However, SCORE volunteers include active as well as retired business leaders, so the organization now promotes itself as America’s Counselors to Small Businesses.
“Our members enjoy helping small business owners see more clearly the pathway to success,” says Pierre bank manager Cari Fossum, district director for SCORE in South Dakota. She nominated Weaver for the annual SCORE recognition.
“She’s on the ball. She knows how businesses can benefit from programs and lets them know about them,” Fossum says.
Weaver was surprised and flattered to be honored for helping businesses through SCORE. “There can never be enough resources to help small businesses get started. SCORE is another resource we can utilize,” she says. Weaver can be reached at (605) 626-2565 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
