Supplemental Food Boxes
Wednesday, March 02, 2016
For most of us, when we need food we head to our local grocery store. However, for some of our elderly population, this may not be an option. Many elderly members of our community live on a very limited, fixed income and food can become scarce. To help meet their needs, GROW South Dakota offers a monthly supplemental food boxes for qualifying elderly individuals in Roberts, Marshall and Sully counties.
“I was recommended for the program by a social worker,” said one of GROW South Dakota’s monthly food box recipients. The local woman had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and was unable to work. She was looking for resources that would help her meet everyday needs, one of which was food. “I now have a program I can rely on in times of crisis. I have added food products each month that will now make my budget stretch farther” said the woman.
