Monday, May 02, 2016
GROW South Dakota has been helping communities for fifty years, and to celebrate each staff and board member has been given $50 to donate to a community organization. During the state conference the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) received a $50 donation as part of GROW South Dakota’s Pay-It-Forward initiative.
Kelly Weaver, the Regional Director of the Small Business Development Center (hosted by GROW South Dakota), donated $50 to the youth organization. FBLA is a nation-wide organization for high school students whose mission is to bring business and education together. This is done through innovative leadership and career development programs. Members learn first in the classroom, and then participate in a wide variety of business activities throughout the school year. During the 2014-2015 school year FBLA had 21 South Dakota chapters which included 611 high school students.
“We value our staff and the passion they have for the communities we serve. This Pay-It-Forward event is a small token of our appreciation toward all of the local organizations that make communities better places to live and work,” said GROW South Dakota CEO Marcia Erickson.
