GROW South Dakota Pays-It-Forward to Pheasants Forever Youth Hunt
Tuesday, June 07, 2016
Pheasant hunting is the national pastime of South Dakota, but it’s not just a recreational activity. The bird represents a major part of the state’s economy and drives significant tourism and economic development support. Pheasants Forever is an organization dedicated to the conservation of pheasants, quail and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public awareness, education and land management policies and programs. The Pheasants Forever youth pheasant hunt is a recipient of a $50 donation from GROW South Dakota’s Pay-It-Forward initiative.
GROW South Dakota has been helping communities for fifty years, and to celebrate that milestone, each staff member and board member has received $50 to donate to a community organization. Tim Carl, lead weatherization installer for GROW South Dakota, chose to support the youth pheasant hunt because it helps build awareness of conservation among young people who are learning to love the sport.
“We value our board members and staff and the passion they have for the communities we serve. This Pay-It-Forward event is a small token of our appreciation toward all of the local organizations that make communities better places to live and work,” said GROW South Dakota CEO Marcia Erickson.
