GROW South Dakota Pays-It-Forward to the Webster Diamond Club

When we think about our own recreation, we tend to think of something that’s enjoyable and relaxing and don’t consider the community development aspect. Providing recreational opportunities helps build communities in many ways, developing personal fitness as well as fostering team-building, competition, and cooperation skills. The Webster Diamond Club has a special focus on the community’s baseball and softball facilities, having overseen the building of the Veterans Memorial sports complex. The Diamond Club is a recipient of a donation from GROW South Dakota’s Pay-It-Forward initiative.
GROW South Dakota has been helping communities for fifty years, and to celebrate that milestone, each staff member and board member has received $50 to donate to a community organization. As a member of the Board of Directors for both GROW South Dakota and the Northeast South Dakota Economic Corporation (NESDEC), Dan Menking of Webster donated $100 to the Diamond Club. In addition to developing programs for Webster athletes, the Diamond Club promotes the hosting of tournaments, which benefits the community and surrounding area.
“We value our board members and staff and the passion they have for the communities we serve. This Pay-It-Forward event is a small token of our appreciation toward all of the local organizations that make communities better places to live and work,” said GROW South Dakota CEO Marcia Erickson.
