GROW South Dakota Pays-It-Forward to Heartland 4-H Rodeo

The purpose of community development is to build a community’s strengths and resources. One of the most important resources of any community is its youth, and building up youth is a key community development goal. The Heartland 4-H Rodeo is part of the South Dakota 4-H Rodeo program and will be held in Huron on July 16-17. It is a recipient of a $50 donation from GROW South Dakota’s Pay-It-Forward initiative.
GROW South Dakota has been helping communities for fifty years, and to celebrate that milestone, each staff member and board member has received $50 to donate to a community organization. Lori Moen, GROW South Dakota’s chief operating officer, made the donation to the Heartland rodeo. As Lori describes it, “The Heartland 4-H Rodeo encourages and develops youth leadership, sportsmanship, responsibility, and teamwork through rodeo events.”
“We value our board members and staff and the passion they have for the communities we serve. This Pay-It-Forward event is a small token of our appreciation toward all of the local organizations that make communities better places to live and work,” said GROW South Dakota CEO Marcia Erickson.
