Marshall County VFW Receives Pay-It-Forward Donation

America as a whole owes a debt of gratitude for the service of its veterans who have served the country. The same applies at the local level, and many communities rely on local organizations to carry out that sense of appreciation. Service organizations like the Veterans of Foreign Wars are involved in many volunteer and charitable activities to support local communities and veterans in particular. For that reason, Marshall County VFW Post 3507 is a recipient of a $50 donation from GROW South Dakota’s Pay-It-Forward initiative.
GROW South Dakota has been helping communities for fifty years, and to celebrate that milestone, each staff member and board member has received $50 to donate to a community organization. Patty Roehr, a board member for NESDEC, chose to support the VFW because of their work with local veterans and with various programs which benefit veterans and their families. She explained, “My dad was a WWII Veteran who served overseas. I feel a great debt is owed to the people who serve our country – and the VFW supports them.”
“We value our board members and staff and the passion they have for the communities we serve. This Pay-It-Forward event is a small token of our appreciation toward all of the local organizations that make communities better places to live and work,” said GROW South Dakota CEO Marcia Erickson.
