The importance of affordable housing

Monday, May 16, 2016

Any financial advisor will tell you that it’s not wise to commit to spending more than 30 percent of your income on housing. But the price of rent is rising at a faster rate than wages. A recent study showed that one in four renters in the United States spends half their income on housing.

When housing eats up 50 percent of your paycheck, it’s difficult to pay for necessities like groceries, day care, and health care. GROW South Dakota recognized the need for local, affordable housing early on. That’s why we’re involved in running affordable housing, apartment complexes in Doland, Leola, Milbank, Tulare and Wilmot.

Affordable apartments as well as rental incentives are available. Learn more about qualifications and search for available properties on our website. http://ow.ly/UMxMW
