Banish burdensome utility bills

Monday, June 27, 2016

Next to a mortgage, utilities can be one of the biggest monthly expenses, particularly when heating during cold winter months and cooling during the summer. That’s why weatherization is a smart investment. By properly air sealing and insulating walls or roofs, you can improve the energy efficiency of a home and sometimes dramatically reduce energy bills.

GROW South Dakota has a Weatherization Assistance Program that serves both homeowners and renters. This service helps provide individuals with energy-saving measures. It starts with a home energy audit to determine cost effective ways to increase energy efficiency and reduce utility costs. Common repairs include: adding insulation in walls and attics, proper air sealing, weather stripping doors and windows, and furnace repairs and replacements.
