GROW South Dakota Pays-It-Forward to the Eden Fire Department
Thursday, September 22, 2016
All communities do their best to maintain safety and security and to prepare for the possibility of something going wrong. Fire departments can seem to be an invisible form of preparation, until they are needed. In small rural communities, volunteer departments can seem even more valuable, because of the commitment made by people in all walks of life to protect their neighbors. The Eden Volunteer Fire Department is a recipient of a $50 donation from GROW South Dakota’s Pay-It-Forward initiative.
GROW South Dakota has been helping communities for fifty years, and to celebrate that milestone, each staff member and board member has received $50 to donate to a community organization. Dave Heitmann, a board member of Northeast South Dakota Economic Corporation, chose to support the Eden Fire Department because of the vital role in plays in protecting life and property in the small community.
“We value our board members and staff and the passion they have for the communities we serve. This Pay-It-Forward event is a small token of our appreciation toward all of the local organizations that make communities better places to live and work,” said GROW South Dakota CEO Marcia Erickson.
