GROW SD Celebrates NeighborWorks Week

Monday, June 05, 2017

On June 7, GROW South Dakota will celebrate NeighborWorks Week and Homeownership Month in Sisseton by offering refreshments and information in its headquarters parking lot.  Everyone is invited for hot dogs and soda.

During NeighborWorks Week (June 3-10), GROW SD and other NeighborWorks organizations across the country will mobilize tens of thousands of residents, business people and government officials in a week of neighborhood change and awareness, including painting and landscaping properties, recognizing successful partnerships and hosting a number of events that educate, train and inform. In addition to lunch, GROW SD will offer visitors information about the benefits of homeownership, its involvement and results in promoting homeownership, and its work with NeighborWorks. The parking lot picnic will also feature NeighborWorks Works: Practical Solutions from America’s Community Development Network, the recently published book about the national NeighborWorks network, which features a case study about GROW SD’s work. Copies of the book will be given away during the event.

GROW SD CEO Marcia Erickson said, “We’re proud to be part of NeighborWorks and proud of our success in serving the communities of South Dakota with a variety of services in housing, community and economic development. This is a small chance to share and celebrate.”

GROW SD is part of the national NeighborWorks network, an affiliation of more than 240 nonprofit organizations located in every state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. In 2016, the NeighborWorks network helped 360,000 individuals and families with affordable housing and counseling. The NeighborWorks network was founded and is supported by NeighborWorks America, which creates opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives and strengthen their communities.

GROW SD is a HUD-approved Housing Counseling Agency and Homeownership Education Resource Organization, and it offers individual education for homeownership.
