Prior to the success of the company, Bridgette (Co-Owner) worked at a clinic located in Sisseton, SD; and Jessie (Co-Owner) worked for a company in Watertown, SD. Having 9 kids, struggling to make ends meet, they knew they could do better. Owning a business was something that they have both dreamed of. Bridgette knew she could do the books and everything else office related to run a business. Jessie had the experience with grain salvage and knew he could handle the labor side of the company. Together they came to the realization that there was a fair amount of farmers who weren’t getting grain salvage and cleanup assistance due to other companies having a waiting list.
They then initially contacted a bank, which denied them without question. Grow SD was next on the list. Grow worked with them to come up with figures, a business plan, and projections. “Grow SD has been our biggest supporter. They have been the only ones to believe in our numbers and our plan. Jared (Loan Officer) was there every step of the way and never hesitated to pick up the phone for us whenever we needed something.”, Bridgette stated.
First step during their startup was finding and buying a grain vac. They only had enough for a down payment, so Grow and Minnwest came together to provide an attractive loan package that would ultimately get them up and going. After about 9 months of small work for farmers, their business took off. They grew and can now provide services to ethanol plants, processing plants, and elevators. With growth in employee size and knowing that they needed more grain vacs and equipment, their first instinct was to contact Grow SD for additional funding.
“None of this would have been possible without Grow SD.”- Bridgette
