With the Wind Vineyard & Winery, nestled in a remote rural setting, embraces the challenges and opportunities of pioneering a vineyard and winery in an area devoid of such industry. Owners, Jeremiah & Lisa Klein stated, “Starting a vineyard and winery where that industry does not already exist has challenges. We have a heart for our area and region, so we are building our business here. We love where we live and wouldn’t change a thing.”

In their journey, With the Wind Vineyard & Winery found invaluable support from GROW South Dakota. Rejecting other offers that could have hindered their growth, they stated, “Because of Grow South Dakota, we are in a solid position financially.”

The business loan provided by GROW South Dakota facilitated essential upgrades. With the Wind owners recalled “On the wine processing side, GROW South Dakota helped us purchase our bottling line, filtration unit, and wine tanks. With the expansion of tanks and bottling and processing capabilities, we are able to distribute to the four corners of South Dakota. Our volumes and selling capabilities have increased greatly.”

Because the business has improved greatly, The Kleins have brought their daughter and son-in-law on board to help grow the business further than they could do alone. They currently grow 6.75 acres of vines, with a future vision in the next 10-20 years to have 60+ acres of grapes growing. Jeremiah & Lisa said, “We love that they will give advice and education, and are always there for you!”
