The Eureka Community Development Company is always interested in new ideas, new ways of doing things, involving new people in the community, and hearing constructive ways to improve Eureka.
With those thoughts as a base, Eureka Development hosted the first Community Action session . Each board member personally invited members of the community to join in a discussion and share thoughts about making Eureka a better place to live and do business.
There were great conversations and the Eureka Development board is very appreciative of everyone taking their time on a cold night to be a part of the session. The turnout was way higher than even hoped for. (About 25 people were present and it was held in the Information Center.)
Topics discussed during the evening included business, housing, events, communication, transportation, community involvement, volunteerism, leadership, organizations, and entertainment. Feedback following the meeting is helping to structure the next meeting.
Overwhelmingly the attendees said that future Community Action sessions should be held, and they were not only willing to attend but would also invite others to attend. A Facebook page will be set up in the near future by one of the people who attended the meeting so everyone can stay in constant communication about projects and progress.
The Eureka Community Development Company is gratified that so many people are willing to step forward and volunteer their time and talents to make Eureka thrive and grow.
