GROWing Your Dream of Home Ownership!
Wednesday, April 09, 2025

Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, “Happiness is not in the mere possession of money. It lies in the joy of achievement. In the thrill of creative effort.”
One of the major joys of achievement for most folks involves buying a home. But the process can sometimes feel overwhelming, confusing or downright impossible.
Did you know that GROW South Dakota is a HUD-approved Housing Counseling Agency and Housing Education Resource Organization (HERO) offering individual and online education geared towards helping you achieve homeownership?
As we celebrate National Financial Literacy Month throughout April, we’re encouraging residents to take advantage of our financial literacy programs related to home ownership and to also review and upgrade your existing financial knowledge in all aspects to ensure a brighter future!
Everyone Deserves Financial Education
Back in 2000, the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) launched Youth Financial Literacy Day in an effort to encourage young people to sharpen their financial smarts and learn more about fiscal responsibility.
Since then, the event has evolved into a month-long awareness campaign for people of all ages and in all stages of life. From learning how to successfully navigate financial challenges to increasing knowledge of financial fundamentals, the goal of the NEFE is to champion financial education for everyone.
In a recent poll, the NEFE found that when asked to rate the quality of their financial life, 46% of respondents said it was about what they expected, 31% said it was worse than expected, and 22% said it was better than they expected it to be.
How about you? Are you happy with the quality of your financial life? Or, do you dream of something better?
