Small Businesses Drive Growth in South Dakota

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy, small businesses are the economic backbone of South Dakota’s, representing 98.9% of all businesses and employing more than half of the state’s entire workforce.

Each dollar spent at one of our small businesses, including Bare Skin Aesthetics, DeSmet Mercantile & Coffeehouse, the Blossom Shoppe and Gifts, and KBS Power LLC, supports our amazing community with increased tax revenue, which helps improve our schools, government services and infrastructure while also boosting the availability of local jobs.

Studies have also found that for every $100 spent at a locally-owned business, a whopping $73 remains in that community, compared to the $43 that remains when purchasing from a corporate chain. When multiplied, that has a massive impact, especially in rural areas like ours.

That’s why GROW SD is committed to supporting our small business owners with personalized support ranging from educational programming to affordable financing options.

“GROW SD was extremely easy to work with. They listened to my needs and were right there to help me with my loan process. I would and have recommended them several times,” said Julie Spiering, Owner of The Blossom Shoppe & Gifts.
